As a fan of kaiju mayhem, this film actually added another dimension to it which is the monster's emotion. You know, sadness, anger, tired, happy and they can even laugh! This added character development to these monsters who were seemingly just slugging it out on older Godzilla films. And that I think brings out a new angle and enough reason for them to go to war and not just mindlessly duke it. For me, this makes the battle royale even more tasteful and intense! Godzilla and Kong Forever! 🥳

I did a quick binge of the four movies leading up to this one (previously only saw Kong Skull Island and Godzilla (2014) in theaters). Going in I could see each movie built up on the previous installment the tech, the human characters, the scale, and expectations. Watched the new one in IMAX and was more pleased with the non verbal communication of the monsters. They definitely focused time on showing the monsters with more thought and reactions in the scenes than the previous ones. As for moving the plot along, the story did a lot of shortcuts to make the scenes connect, with use of movie logic. But that ended up working out so that it was not dragging too long with exposition. And even with the shortcuts they still allowed the human characters time to have some personality. And if you are a fan of the retro 80's aesthetic this movie had it in spades. From the music to the vehicles to the visuals of terrain. The ending does make a good stopping point of the franchise, but allows it to continue if they want.

Oh man, Godzilla X Kong was SO MUCH FUN!! It hearkens back to a simpler time, back when movies didn't have to take themselves so seriously or explain everything away. Personally, I loved how many moments there were where they just let the monsters' expressions do the talking without any dialogue--movies don't really do that anymore but it gives the audience some credit and allows for different interpretations.

I do not care what the critics say. I sat in the theater with a huge smile. The movie made me feel like I was 10 years old again and it was Saturday and Godzilla Vs Hedora was playing. The movie feels like a 70's Godzilla film, but with modern special effects. I plan on going to see it again this weekend. I saw it in real 3D and I felt it was worth the extra charge.

It's a simple fact, you can't let critics' opinions affect your view on the movie. It's a monster movie. It's not supposed to be perfection, it's supposed to be a thrill ride, and that's exactly what this was🔥
