I was in a garage band in the late 60's. We were terrible. Every "song" devolved into a maniacal, frantic facsimile of MC5, ending in a cacaphohy of cymbal crashes, feedback and loud, sloppy riiffs until we were exhausted and/or the police were in the driveway. We called that a "Detroit Ending." Probably the most fun I have ever had.

I'm Motor City born & bred! We used to go to this place on the West Side on Grand River The Grande Ballroom . A seedy second floor joint .
I saw Cream Big Brother & the Holding Co, Canned Heat
However the absolute best kick ass shows were always The 5 & The Stooges.
Miss you Fred, and now Kramer too Enjoy Paradise my brothers.
D from the Motor City

Awesome!!! Who cares if this band isnāt in the corporate American rock and roll āhall of fameā? Neither are the New York Dolls, Black Flag or Motƶrhead. Yet these bands created a rock and roll revolution and a blueprint for alternative music. Their fans are their Hall of Fame and videos like this keep that memory firmly and squarely in our minds!

Wow! In '72 when this was taped I was a senior in h.s. in southern Arizona. Being a big time rocker since literally age 6, I thought I was pretty much hip to the best bands making the circuits across the USA. Concerts / smoky rock clubs became a way of life. But Arizona just didn't give the MC5 much airplay at all. Why....don't know...maybe the huge distance bet. Az. and Detroit. Whenever I heard the MC5, they sounded sloppy and I paid 'em not much mind. BUT THIS.....Oh man....am I glad I clicked this on....on a whim. NOW I GET IT....these guys could easily have been one of my all time favorite bands. What a shame I never had the chance to see them live. I could listen to this stuff all day and all nite....and I'm 69 now. A YOUNG 69....thx to rock music!
