Warner Bros. Picturesâ animated adventure feature film âMummiesâ, from Spanish director Juan JesĂşs GarcĂa Galocha, features an impressive voice cast including Joe Thomas (âThe Inbetweenersâ, âWhite Goldâ), Eleanor Tomlinson (âThe Neversâ, âJack the Giant Slayerâ, âThe Illusionistâ), Santiago Winder (âThe Hope Roomsâ), Celia Imrie (âThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotelâ, âMamma Mia! Here We Go Againâ), Dan Starkey (âDoctor Whoâ), Hugh Bonneville (âPaddingtonâ, âDownton Abbeyâ, âNotting Hillâ), singer, songwriter and record producer Shakka and Sean Bean (âGame of Thronesâ, âThe Martianâ, âThe Lord of the Ringsâ).
The film follows the fun adventures of three Egyptian mummies who live in an underground secret city, hidden in ancient Egypt. The trio includes a princess, a former charioteer, and his younger brother along with their pet baby crocodile. Through a series of unfortunate events, the mummies end up in present-day London and embark on a wacky and hilarious journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family, that was stolen by the ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby.
The film is directed by Juan JesĂşs GarcĂa Galocha ("Galoâ), who makes his feature film debut following his work as art director on films such as âTad: The Lost Explorerâ and âTad, the Lost Explorer, and the Secret of King Midasâ. The script was co-written by Jordi Gasull and Javier Barreira, Goya Award winners for Best Screenplay for âTad: The Lost Explorerâ. Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Ricky Roxburgh (âTangled: The Seriesâ) supported the English language adaptation of the script. Gasull, winner of three Goya Awards for Best Animated Film for âTad: The Lost Explorerâ, âCapture the Flagâ and âTad, the Lost Explorer, and the Secret of King Midasâ, is also the film's producer. Pedro Solis, writer/director of the Goya Award winning animated short film âStringsâ, is also behind the film as head of Core Animation Studio.
The filmâs music is composed by Goya Award winner Fernando Velazquez, who has frequently collaborated with acclaimed Spanish director, J.A. Bayona. The film features three original songs
including âI Am Todayâ, âNew Songâ and âRing Songâ. The latter features lyrics by writer/producer Jordi Gasull.
