It blows my mind what the blender devs do for artists. It's amazing.

This is the shortest video ever that explain all of the 2D and 2.5D animation at the highest level production quality.

this is genuinely such valuable content for artists. there are so many programs and functions in them that are hard to get a grasp of alone. i always wanted to do more animation but csp has been limiting and difficult for that , for me. so i will definitely give this a shot.

Truly stunning work! I started combining 2D and 3D elements in Blender back in 2017 when Blenders features weren't quite there yet but seeing the software increase it's potential and seeing it used like this is inspiring!

I just have to say that these have easily been three of the most inspiring and informative grease pencil/Blender tutorials I’ve had the pleasure of watching……awesome stuff!

Marc, you've made a very applicable and comprehensive guide of animating 2d and 3d mixed animations. Thank you.

I am currently deep learning Blender so I can re-insert myself in the market as a 3d specialist, but in all honesty what I always wanted to do was 2d animation. This video series assure me I'm on the right path with Blender, and that the program already has everything you could possibly need to create 2d/3d animation — you just need to master it throughly to know what to use and when. Thanks.

Excellent workflow! Just brilliant. I love to see 2D artists use their fundamental skills to get the most out of Blender for illustration and animation. Loved this series, hopefully this will inspire many to tackle on blender and find a whole world of tools they'll be able to use however they want!

I've Blender'ed for ages, made instructions, videos, etc - this is a remarkable and delightful thorough look at GP that doesn't insult and just feeds tons of inspiration and a shocking amount of knowledge really quickly and it's entertaining as well. Product is pretty far out of my price range but this video is an A+ in the Blender-sphere. A much deserved sponsorship, sir.

Thanks Marco for researching this topic for us. You are one of the best educators I know on the internet. You have a great ability to impart knowledge. I think that even if you were to study quantum physics, I would be watching you. Your ability to penetrate the topic, understand it, extract essence and serve it in an accessible way is UNIQUE.

Great video as always Marco, loved this video series! Just a suggestion, you can actually add blur to grease pencil objects which uses depth of field. Just select blur as an effect on the GP object and check " Use Depth of Field" :)

Good tutorial! Small but super important note though @ 15:52: there's no reason to remove compression on PNG files, they use lossless compression so the file gets smaller without losing any information, unlike the lossy compression of JPEGs. The slider controls the balance between compression effectiveness and speed, and the default value is very good, so it's best left alone unless you want to fill up your hard drive!

Great video. Just a quick note: You can literally drag an image from a folder into the Blender window and it will automagically make it an image plane for you. (Or... you can simply select background images in your camera tab and choose the file from there).

There’s a handy way of adding blur effects to grease pencil objects and key framing the effect strength to simulate depth of field change. Love this tutorial and your work
