I was a medic on one of their live tours. They flat out refused to use any effects while they were on stage.

It was live. My friend was there. Said they were phenomenal. Listen to more of their live performances....I’ve seen them live as well. They. Are. Amazing!

That’s why they are called professionals. They are THAT good in person. And sound engineers were superb.

Mitch is a true counter-tenor... that’s a rare voice tessitura in today’s world. The vocal technique was common in the 16th and 17th centuries (castrati). Only Kevin has perfect pitch; the rest have superb relative pitch! It was live.

Check out their version of "Gold" by Kiara. I'm not big at all on the original because there's a lot of electronic sounds in lieu of singing and musical notes. But PTX does it live around a mic, sitting in chairs, with Mitch singing the lead & electronic sounds! And when they start passing the lead around between them one note & word at a time, we'll...... You just need to watch it. (Many, if not most, of their early YouTube videos were recorded live, in their apartment, sitting on the couch with only 1 or 2 mics. Check them out!)

Not a fan of this version simply because of the drums. Apparently they were there because the TV show's producer insisted on it. All they did was get in the way IMO. Pentatonix DOES NOT NEED additional musicians of any type to augment their performances.

Please do more PTX. I know they’ve been reacted to by everybody and their brother in law. But you’re the real deal. More PTX!

Have heard them live several times, they are astonishing in how perfect they sound on stage - having heard a lot of other internationally renowned a capella groups ...

Scott has amazing range. He covers the bass line whenever Avi or Matt sing the lead.

One of the things the judges commented on at the very start of their career on the Sing-Off a cappella competition, was how well they held back to blend their voices. Don't forget, Mitch, Kirstie and Scott have been doing this together since they were 8 and 10 years old. They know each other so well, and work so hard at their craft... this is what that kind of dedication can produce. Great reaction! Would love to hear your reaction to their cover of Kiiara's "Gold." It's an early one with Avi, and contains stunning vocal acrobatics.

The best live recording is from their 2016 Popspring performance recorded by/for MTV. The audio and video is top quality. An added bonus you'll get to hear three originals and their medley 'Evolution of Michael Jackson'.

Your right, Kirsten's voice absolutely pops. If you watch some of their early recordings, that wasn't really the case. Her voice has always stood out but she was used on solo's very sparingly in the early years. Any recording that the group would have done would not have included the drums, so yes I think it was live. I have seen them live several times and they are always so good.

I've seen them in concert twice and private performance. They are perfectly wonderful. They are the nicest people too. I can't wait till they tour through my area again.

I think they are live. They are just an incredibly talented group. Each one has a beautiful voice and they sound fantastic together. Their range is incredible. Hallelujah and Bohemian Rhapsody is also two other songs that they sing incredibly well.

I've seen them 4 times live and can absolutely say that they are the real deal. Once was at a backstage "sound check" where they just stood on a stage in front of 50 of us and just sang. No lights, no production, no mics, just them. Stunning. They also were debating at that time whether to put Hallelujah into the show because they are perfectionists and wasn't sure it was ready (they put it in and it was amazing). They have said they won't do any song in the studio that they can't sing live. I'm excited to hear their 90's medley live.

I saw them in concert in 2019. They sound exactly the same live as they do in videos. You need to go see them in concert.
