(Corrections listed below) Hey everyone! Thank you so much for tuning in. This was a huge undertaking, but one that I was happy to do as Metal Gear is a series that is very special to me. I am currently sorting through my backlog of smaller videos now (including a look at Ghost of Tsushima PS5, Aliens Fireteam, etc) but am also in the production phase of another big documentary set to release in October! If you don't already know what that documentary will be - there's a hint provided in this video in true Metal Gear/Kojima fashion. Enjoy! Corrections: -MGS4 has nearly 10 hours of cutscenes - not 100 hours, must've added an extra 0 in the script and never noticed. Though it certainly feels like 100 hours! :P -Otacon's father is HUEY Emmerich, not Hal. Misspoke -Virtuous Mission was 1964, not 1960.

It's insane to me that random people on YouTube could put out a nearly 3 hour documentary and make it look as professional as it does here. It will never cease to impress me. Imagine all the footage he had to go through! Imagine the render time!

the quality of The Phantom Pain was just so overwhelming... if it was released today, It'd still be way above standards of games today. It's truly a diamond.

MGS4 is the first game that ever brought me to tears. When Snake is crawling and his gear is melting away because of the heat, the intensity of that bit of gameplay was overwhelming. This documentary is absolutely incredible. Kudos to you, sir.

I remember being a kid playing MGS on ps1 and being terrified whenever I would alert an enemy. I literally grew up with this series , from a kid on ps1 to a man with kids on a PS4 playing phantom pain.. amazing job hideo

When MGS 2 came out, I'd never heard of the series before. It came out of nowhere for me. I stayed up for 11hrs passed exhausted, into the next day, just to beat the game and watch the end cutscenes. I'd never played anything like it and I was 100% hooked. Those were the days...

Fun fact: Solid Snake is, quite openly, an homage to Snake Plissken, the protagonist of John Carpenter's Escape From New York. Creator Hideo Kojima has been forthright about the film's influence on his work, and that almost landed him and Konami in court.

Only played through Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 while in high school. As soon as I hit college my time for gaming went to pretty much zero. But those were great memories. The excitement, the waiting, the anticipation! I only wish Kojima could have truly finished his games without compromise. Now that he has his own studio, his dreams can become a reality.

Man... I truly respect the time, effort, and research put into this. I'm old as dirt now and remember playing that first Metal Gear way back when I was young. This video honestly had that sting of nostalgia. And what a beautiful thing evolution can be, if done correctly.

This was a great way to spend nearly 3 hours. Lots of nostalgia here. MGS2 sons of liberty will always be my favorite, the story was literally mind blowing. I also have a soft spot for the Phantom Pain. It was really, really fun for me.

Iā€™d honestly love to see a WW2 Cobra Unit game where you play as the Boss, maybe eventually showing her training a young Naked Snake

Metal gear solid was criticized for its simplicity?? WHAT? At that time it was one of the most complex games I can think of. There were so many little details, alternate ways to complete areas, 4th wall breaking puzzles, ect. I hope they got criticized for that criticism.
