Cinque Terre PHOTOGRAPHY Vlog and some thoughts on Travel Photography

What is Travel Photography? Is it a genre all on it's own or does it encompass landscapes, portraits, wildlife, astro photography (etc)?? In my opinion Travel Photography is a form of art which captures a scene that speaks to a destination or unique experience. Something that is tied to a specific culture or place. An example would be the bull run through the streets of that one town in Spain. Or the classic Machu Picchu postcard snap. Something that immediately coincides with travel experience.

This video takes place in Manarola and Corniglia in Cinque Terre Italy. Both unique locations to practice some travel photography. I think the final image in this video is a great example of a good travel photo. Coastal Italy captured in one unique and well balanced image.

The more steps involved, the better the viewpoints tend to be, and the one at the top in Corniglia looks marvelous! What a beautiful coastline!

Definitely some great images, and the music you used is great especially at the beginning, really starts out giving you that Italian feel. The last image โญโญโญโญโญ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

We stayed in an apartment in Corniglia for a week back in June, very near where you set up your equipment. The town is indeed a gem!

I spent a few days in the Cinque Terre several years ago. Manarola was my favorite town, and the one I considered the most photogenic. I shot from the same vantage point as you, and also from a high trail overlooking the town, which gave me an almost aerial perspective. Right before sunset the town was bathed in amazing golden hour light, and later on during blue hour (when most other photographers had departed) the lights came on and it was magical.

Interesting question Greg and probably it could be debated as both a genre in its own right but also a wrap around various genres. If like you do, you travel and capture various genres such as street, landscape, astro or architecture then the travel feel would most definitely be prominent, however someone like Alyn Wallace who travels to various destinations across the work to shoot astro then I would think the astro genre takes the prevalent role. Loved that LE at 400mm, was a lovely capture

The production quality of your videos is amazing!!!! Congrats. But from a well travelled guy who also is spanish fluent, to not be able to overcome the curse of the english speaking and not pronounce foreign areas properly, is strange. Cinque TerrE not terrA
