On July 6, 1893, Mary of Teck married Prince George, Duke of York, at the Royal Chapel of St. James's Palace in London. This Prince George later became King George V. This marriage was not initially planned as such. Prince George had hoped to marry his cousin, Princess Marie of Edinburgh. However, she declined his proposal and later married the future King of Romania. As for Mary, she was originally engaged to Prince George's brother, Albert Victor. Unfortunately, Albert Victor passed away six weeks after their engagement.
Prince George's grandmother, Queen Victoria, had a great fondness for Mary of Teck, considering her to be a girl of strong character and sense of duty, and thus, she hoped George would marry her. In May 1893, a year after George's brother Albert Victor passed away, he proposed to Mary of Teck, who gladly accepted. They soon fell deeply in love. Whenever they were apart, George would write to Mary every day, and unlike his father, he never had any extramarital affairs in later years. The couple went on to have six children, with only one daughter among them, who is the subject of today's video, Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood.

Another winning video. I didn’t even know Queen Elizabeth had an aunt! In spite of a longer face, I see some resemblance between Mary Princess Royal and our late queen. Thank you for another interesting short.
