A conversation between the two was once published in Japan's Young Guitar Magazine. I think it was in the 90's.
During that conversation, Steve said, ``I'd like to co-produce an album together someday. I'd like the title to be ``Sea of Emotion.'' They said that in their hometown where they spent their childhood, there was a vacant lot called Sea of Emotion.

Nice! Two great Long Island guitarists. I played with a few others, like Al Pitrelli and the late female guitar wiz Ronni Crooks (who was also a protegeâ of jazz great Billy Bauer, who Satch also studied with.) A Vai storyâŚI was sent to âmy Fatherâs Placeâ club around â82 to review Steve self-releasing his first solo album, âFlexible.â I brought my drummer along and remember how we thought Steve was our guitarist Eric Rudy (from PA,) who had recently left to replace Steve Morse in the remaining Dixie Dregs, when Via went solo. Vai LOOKED and PLAYED just like our guy Eric. It was like a âTwilight Zoneâ episode. After we realized it was indeed two different guysâŚSteveâs mom and dad walked over to our table. They had heard I was there to write a review, so the came to say hi and give me a promo copy of âFlexibleââŚand inside, on a napkin, his mom wrote âPlease write something nice about our son, heâs a good boy.â I STILL have that album and napkin.
