Thank you for this talk. I lost my mother in February to suicide. Iā€™ll never be the same.

Extremely valuable and helpful Ted Talk. I feel much more comfortable asking the right questions if someone I know is feeling suicidal.

Even someone suicidal does not necessarily have a desire to die. And they still have a real fear of death. That should say something about the extent of their suffering.

Many people leave others by suicide because they have been left alone by everybody a long time ago. Properly caring for each other isn't rocket science. Yet we don't learn the simplest basics in school. Instead we learn how to solve crossword puzzles with knowledge that usually serves a few% of the class.

Nice job Kirk. I will always have wonderful thoughts of your family. I am so sorry that you and your parents had to go through all of this. Losing Kyle and Kendra has to have been heart-wrenching. I think many in your position would place blame on themselves. I sure hope that you do not. Kyle wouldn't have wanted that. I hope that you continue these lectures. You are helping people for sure. Thank you for sharing. Betsy.... (from your hometown)

He goes for 6 months without speaking to his brother but when heā€™s gone he thinks about him everyday. Why do people have to die to be missed

Thank you so much for having the strength to share your experience and talk openly about this topic. I lost my entire family because of my fears for my , then 11 year old sister, who attempted to take her life. I blamed my parents because I was once I her shoes & felt the loneliness came from their style of parenting. The police intervened and social survives. I feel responsible too honestly. I donā€™t know if she ever got the help she deserves but I applaud your strength and your passion to prevent these types of events from happening. I feel like everyone blames someone because no one knows what to do or say & it is terrifying to even imagine losing a person close by suicide attempts. This has helped me to realize my part and I hope and pray more people are able to hear this message and become the help or get the help they need. Thank you from the depths of my soul. šŸ™šŸ½

Yeap. They say they shouldā€™ve everytime, but didnā€™t.Its because of self centered personality traits. The survivors want to maintain being self centered but donā€™t even realize it!! Think about the nerve of doing all that talking after the fact. Stop being self centered, and fricken realize it. Talk to people that are hurting. Talk to them. Now!! Thatā€™s while you have time. Not later. Now.

The problem is that even if you reach out and you do get help, once you have been smitten by feeling your inner void and emptiness, there is nothing that really helps. You will be taken to Psych ER, your kids will know about, your young kids will be bewildered, you will look like a crazy, be locked up for two weeks, and in religious congregation you will be looked at as just ... well ... weird.

Suicide is complex

Some of these suicide are talks are a little tough in regards to the intervention piece. When they say maybe someone could have been saved had you done this. What if you did all the things and they still did it? It makes me think some are not preventable. ā¤ā¤ā¤

I attempted suicide on November 13th 2021. I still haven't gotten help to stop my thoughts of suicide. Maybe in January 2022. If I can last that long.
