#beatles #piano #tutorial One more Beatles tutorial. The piano part from Your Mother Should Know, written by Paul McCartney, and credited to Lennon/McCartney.
Featured on the Magical Mystery Tour album from 1967.
A simple and traditional composition, where Paul references old-style songs (as he also did in When I'm Sixty-four, and She's Leaving Home). Here, occasionally, Paul's comping on piano breaks the traditional voice-leading rules and adds a few leaps, creating some texture contrasts.
On Wikipedia this song is said to be in the key of A Minor. Although it's actually ambiguous at times (which is part of its beauty), all sections end by resolving in the key of C Major. So, I consider the intro and the beginning of the verse as starting on the VIm relative Minor chord of the C Major key.
