IU’s voice has always held this insane ability to emote and draw out emotion —- it’s part of why she’s such a successful and recognized artist

I knew IU was acting, but I had no idea that V was also great at it! Their chemistry is out of this world and their acting was so so SO good!

13:46 when IU hold V, with 3 times movement hand like squeeze, its also means like "dont worry, im always here with you" because IU deaf.

A little thing that I like is that everything is muted, no sound from the camera, no sfx. Just amazing acting, gorgeous imagery and a beautiful song.

The cube 'Nemo' represents the discrimination towards marginalized people (symbolized in IU being mute and Taehyung being blind in one eye). They stayed together till the end with their love sustained, free from all oppression and pressure from society. LOVE WINS ALL!

Here's everything you might have missed: 1) IU is deaf/mute and V is blind in one eye. IU uses sign language in the dinner table. 2) The cube (the director said it is called "nemo") represents the society which discriminates against people having disabilities or those who are simply different (often considered as misfits) thus eliminating them. (the pile of clothes: The pile of clothes also reminds you of BTS "Spring day"MV which also features it 3) The camrecorder shows how the world would have been if the society didn't discriminate against them. They would have gotten married happily. 4) The scene where they are at the restaurant and the scene where she is on stage singing in her wedding dress, you can see how the people around covered in black are all pointing their fingers at Tae and IU (represents how harshly the world judges them especially in their happy moments) 5) The whole mv was mainly shown from the pov of IU. You can see how she always put herself in the danger first and tries to protect Tae, how tenderly she loved him, her touches were so gentle as she saw his normal eye through the cam. But Tae loved her too. At the end of their life, he puts himself in front and tried to break the box. They both are equally scared but when time comes, they can sacrifice themselves for the other. This is true love. 6) IU taps three times on Tae's shoulder during the scene where he grabs her hand tightly. The three taps translates to "I love you" in sign language.

I cried when the wedding dress and V’s outfit fell past the chandelier!!! I was sobbing. Tears started rolling once IU covered V’s good eye and then when the clothes fell that was it!!! THIS WAS A TREMENDOUS MOVIE VIDEO!!!!!

the fact that she got sick from recording the mv and still recorded the song after while being sick is just amazing. It really shoes her love for her craft and her fans!

There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant. The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop. These two with their amazing acting, packed in 5 mins all the emotions to convey the storyline (top tier level) that most kdramas do in 16 episodes.

V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😭😭😭❤❤😮😢❤

Jordan, you are not alone. LOTS of people cried watching this MV. And there will be more to come. IU is very well-known for her vocals no matter what style she sings in. She can do Hopeful, she can do Sorrowful, she's really JUST THAT GOOD; absolutely World-Class as a vocalist. Besides that, IU is an Actress and has been in a few different things that international fans know of. Her credentials are really impressive. As an actress, she would know how to convey emotion but she knew how to do that before she got into acting. Her own real-life experience as a child is not the greatest background story, bad enough that she has been homeless herself. She knows pain, she knows hunger, she knows hopelessness. But she did live through all of that so her perspective is far different than many people who are at the top of the Entertainment sector (many of them having been born to privilege). She has seen the dark side to society so she has knowledge of certain traps, she's not stupid nor ignorant. She can spot fake people and knows a rat when she smells one, she knows about scams and how to avoid them. She has LIVED as if she is twice the age her birth date claims. IU is one of the most solid, hard-working people in Korean Entertainment; I compare her to Scarlett O'Hara in the garden, swearing that she will NEVER go hungry again. And now in Korea, IU is apparently the Top-Grossing Soloist in Music (I am not sure about from the Acting angle but let's just say she is 'Well-Off'). She's also a real SWEETHEART; reports from every fan, other actors, other Soloists and Idols who have met or worked with her say that she is one of THE MOST NICE people in Korea. EVERYBODY just loves her to pieces. She gives to charities often. Just a total and complete beautiful soul.

4:48 and 14:03 Finally, someone pointed it out!! I have watched tons of reaction videos to this MV since its release and everyone's been raving about the acting. While it is true that their acting is indeed commendable, I think very few were able to notice that the music and IU's voice are heavily influencing the mood for this MV and the emotions drawn out from the viewer. A part of me is a little sad that because the acting and cinematography were so good, the actual song kind of took a back burner (by just a bit!). I just feel like it wasn't emphasized enough how hauntingly beautiful the song was. Oh well, this is an MV after all so yeah, we understand. But overall, this MV is such a masterpiece - the whole package. Everything was insanely good! Kudos to everyone behind this work of art. Btw, great reaction vid! You were able to capture both the big picture and the tiny details.

Such a beautiful MV. I didn't realise the director was a movie director - it makes sense why so many reactors say it feels like they're watching a movie. Did you also see the credits at the end? There's a credit for a special guest lol.

This is the reaction I've been looking forward to the most and it was worth the wait! After this MV I would really love to see a film with IU and V, they are crazy good together, Btw, I've read the cube is actually hunting for guests for Suga's Suchwita.

IU is a very unique singer and is known as a national treasure in South Korea. She encountered financial difficulties in her family when she was a child, so she determined to become an "adult" who could support her own life earlier. Because she likes singing, she decided to be a singer. She hoped to connect the hearts between "I and YOU" through music with emotions, so she took the stage name "IU". Originally, she wanted to be a traditional ballad singer when she debuted, but because too young, she did not gain much attention from the public in that time(when she is only 15). Later, the entertainment company tried to package her as an idol singer and achieved great success (in the year she was 18). But when she became very popular with the public at the age of 21 with her beautiful appearance and cheerful personality, she decided to regain her original ambition and embark on a completely different path from ordinary Kpop......She remake songs more than 20-years-old, and re-introduced the popular culture of the previous generation to the younger generation, and received a very good response from public. From then on, Koreans no longer viewed her as an idol with only a sweet image, but instead viewed her with respect as a real "artist of music" who contributed to popular culture. In additional to her famous angelic voice just like moonlight, she is also known for her versatility and is an award-winning singer, music producer, lyricist, also a top-tier actress and model. She has many popular songs composed by herself. Because she has held the belief that "love will eventually win" for many years, she wrote the lyrics and produce the project herself, and specially asked the film director she had collaborated with to film this MV.(The directer won the 2023 Blue Gragon Films Award of Korea)

If you haven’t cried enough look closely at that close up of V’s face when she covers his eye. You can see the smoke beginning to the right of that close up. Took me several times to see that. But it is so beautiful. Trying be there and protect each other until the very end. 😭

Can we just appreciate the fact that IU recorded this song while sick and coughing? Coughing so much so, her and her staff were joking about her coughing up blood? The amount of dedication she has as well as her voice even while sick is just... just wow.
