You don’t have to just do expeditions to get tempered investigation. I can joined an sos quest of someone fighting a tempered monster and picked up footprints or scratches in the mission and got tempered investigations from that. One thing if you break parts off a tempered monster and get an investigation from it it will not be tempered. For some reason broken off part only count as a regular monster only footprints and scratches or snot count for tempered investigations

I have unlocked tempered level 1 and 3 but having difficulty getting level 2 I don’t know what I’m doing wrong any advice is helpful

I've killed Xeno'jiva and doubble tempered bazelgeuse but I never see some other tempered footprints

You're not specifying if it has to be on low level map or high level.

One thing to note for all hunters. When looking for footprints in different areas, DO NOT just jump from map to map directly as you will lose whatever you picked up in the current zone. Always go back to Astera before you try a different map.
