The Most Underrated Country I've Visited | Lebanon Travel Vlog

Next up in circling the Mediterranean in 40 days...Lebanon! I'm so excited to be back in this stunning country and explore Beirut, Tripoli, Batroun, and Byblos.

For years, I've had a dream of circling the whole Mediterranean; not just the European coasts but also exploring the Middle East and North Africa. My sister, Sage, and I got to planning and together we are embarking on this adventure together. When we were looking at the travel space, it seemed that female creators still appear to be far outnumbered and local female stories are had to come by. With this in mind, we want to explore each location through the lens and experience of the local gals who live there to gain a better understanding of the culture, politics, and history of each region.

I lived in Beirut for a year in the early 2000s (I was bureau chief for the news outlet I worked for at the time.) It's difficult to describe to those who've never visited just how culturally rich, historically significant, and downright beautiful the country is -- though you do a pretty darn good job of that here.šŸ™‚ The people of Lebanon are easily among the friendliest and most helpful I've ever met, the food is amazing, and the history and culture can't be beat. It's had a rough go of it over the past 50 years or so. Yet even with the civil war, the refugee crisis, economic problems, and the 2020 blast, it's still easy to see why Beirut is called the Paris of the Middle East, and why the country as a whole is a favorite among people from all over the world.

I am so happy to see that you had such a good time. Thank you for showing your audience the beauty that is this tiny mismanaged piece of heaven! My country has been through so much yet every time I have taken my European friends (I am Lebanese but moved to London when I was 7) they have reminded me just why I fell in love with Lebanon in the first place and they loved it just as much! I actually moved to Beirut and worked there for 3 years after graduation and itā€™s sad to witness what has happened since 2019 but like we always say, Lebanon is a Phoenix and it WILL rise again.

As a Lebanese, this video was so heartwarming to me ... and thank you for visiting my home town Tripoli. It is severely underrated and underrepresented, even though- in my opinion- is one of the most charming cities in the world <3

As a Lebanese person living abroad, I would recommend putting a trigger warning before you show videos of the explosion, only because it makes me cry every time I see it :( Thank you for sharing your wonderful story with us!

As a (half) Lebanese, this video warms my heart. While life in Lebanon can be tough, watching videos like these help remind me of all the beauty and culture thatā€™s out there that can hardly be paralleled anywhere else. Thanks Elena for bringing exposure to this beautiful country. I watched your content for a long time and wish we could have crossed paths! I hope you will come back again someday because thereā€™s so much more to discover! ā¤

if you were my history teacher in school I might have actually learned something. I'm not sure what it is, but I really enjoy when you pull education into your videos, your voice is easy to listen to and you always make things relatable and interesting. Thank you for this!

Hi Elena! Iā€™ve been subscribed forever and I remember watching videos from the last time you were in Beirut! Iā€™m half Lebanese but have always felt very disconnected from my culture, I have never been to Lebanon and itā€™s of course at the top of my list to visit. Thank for highlighting such a beautiful place and people, Iā€™ve been looking forward to this onešŸ‡±šŸ‡§

I'm Lebanese and I loved your video. My father immigrated to America during the Civil War and grew up with much of the devastation it entailed. Thanks for sharing, Lebanon is beautiful and deserves all the recognition!
