Remember people, NEVER buy day 1, ALWAYS wait for the complete edition to "release" a year or two down the road. You will get the full package AND it will be significantly cheaper! There are so many game releases and alot of games now (and for the past decade or more) take dozens of hours to finish now, if not more. Be patient, get some self respect, and slowly work on your back catalog (or play alot of great games that I guarantee you missed out on in the past!)! Learn some discipline and refuse to take part of pre-order or new release hype/culture! Both you and your wallet will be much better off refusing to partake in this sh*tshow!!!

Couldn't agree more with you, man. This is absolutely shocking that they would even do this in the first place. NG+ is a massive staple in RPG gaming. Locking that behind a paywall will only make people 100% the first run and sell the game asap.

Gaming hitting rock bottom over and over again, but I gotta say that idea of BG3 locking romancing characters behind paywall is terrifying. I know someone, in like Ubisoft or whatever, is already looking into it, because damn, we all know people would pay for that.

Just a reminder, the former head of EA has publicly stated that one of his favorite ideas is literally to sell players reloads for their guns in an FPS. That's the type of thinking that leads our industry. This man led the 8th largest game company on earth.
So when things like replaying the game on a harder mode, saving your game, or simply being able to do the most fundamental things in a game are paywalled, understand that the individuals running this industry are doing so with intent. And they know they'll keep getting away with it because they've hired psychologists to quite literally help make games as addictive as possible.
We need to start creating boycotts for entire companies. Stand up to these abusive and manipulative people who see you as a wallet and nothing more. Leave the abusive relationship.

Yeah, the publishers have realized that my generation (gen-x) are playing video games more than previous generations into our 40's and 50's, and when you have a customer base that has their own money, and at that point lots of disposable income, they feel more than entitled to it, so as long as there are guys in their middle ages with money to burn and no other social life willing to buy this bs, their just going to keep coming up with shady ways to get that money with less and less actual product.

This already occured in yakuza 7 for japan edition and sadly was the most digitally sold yakuza game in the entire series. Sega learned the wrong lesson from their prior game and are now confident in putting it on global editions, and the sad part? you already fucking know its gonna sell like hot cakes...
