Yes, a better memorial indeed of all those friends we lost.
And a reminder of the DIGNITY with which gay rights were fought for,.
Sadly, makes the contrast between the gay liberation movement in 1980s and the present day trans movement even clearer.
Thanks too for reminding us of the lesbians who supported their gay male friends.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this. It truely moved me to tears, not much does. So many beautiful people gone. But there are and always will be US, we won’t give up this new fight against the alphabet soup tyranny.
I have lost most of my friends because I speak out against the nonsense. Men are men , women are women, there are no other sexes. Homosexual, heterosexual and bisexual are the only sexualities. Women do not have a penis and men do not have vaginas.
Thank you my friend for being your brave and amazing self.
Thank you for your time you give and content you share. Xx

I remember this time well, and this film. Thank you for continuing to recognize how women supported gay men during this time. Elizabeth Taylor will always be a heroine for me because when she spoke up, I watched it change the entire conversation to empathy in the US, particularly among older people that grew up with her. I can’t emphasize enough how much of a difference she made in a time of fear. She got other prominent people to stand up and set up care facilities for the men dying. As part of the conversation and after this horrific time in history, older lesbians I know feel a sense of betrayal that gay men did not/do not speak up for them as GI began to attack them first (outside of the clinics) and then all women. Where have the gay brothers been? Voices like you and MrMenno are important. There are other gay men speaking out, professionals, but they rarely directly discuss the women affected. It’s a facet of human nature to pigeonhole, that it only affects a particular group, missing that it will eventually affect them too. We saw it with the early blood transfusion victims of AIDS and now with the attack on free speech. I also recommend the autobiographical 120 BPM by Robin Campillo as part of the AIDS history that addresses the pharmaceutical companies. It WILL break your heart.

Completely agree . We’ve been hijacked and need to remove ourselves and be very clear to communicate we’re not part of it .
