Hah! Is this photogrammetry day on YouTube or what? I just finished and put up my own video, also using Reality Capture, and some other software. Great summary Clint, especially about merging together point clouds. It's a great way, regardless of software, to get a better quality mesh at the end. 🙂

Nice scans, Clint! You're absolutely right, photogrammetry can become addictive. I always like to compare it with shooting on film- you go out exploring and capture something cool, return home and start to feel that rush of excitement once you sit down and start processing your images, and finally see what you got- and when it all turns out, hopefully you're happy with it!

Some extra tips I've found photoscanning plastic figurines. If you want to scan an object that is reflective and contains a consistent flat colour (usually very bad for photoscanning) cover it in baby powder. This adds micro details to the mesh which helps the scan while being easy enough to clean up afterwards.
