In Greek mythology, Icarus is the son of Daedalus, King Minos' architect, who built the labyrinth for King Minos to imprison the Minotaur. In reality, the father and son were Minos' prisoners, imprisoned in a tower. The clever Daedalus plucked feathers from the birds that landed at the window and, over time, gathered enough to build two pairs of wings for himself and his son, Icarus. The two escaped, but Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun. The prideful Icarus didn't listen. He flew so high, the heat of the sun melted the wax in his wings, and he plunged to his death into the ocean.

I love how with the rhythm and the visuals, it makes the song an infinite loop. They start and end with the same beat, so that in the last chorus when you fly and turn red, you can assume you fall down into the water, and then it loops right back to the beginning when you emerge from the water and do it all over again.

About 2 years ago I laid on my bed in my towel after a shower one night feeling depressed and broken and cried my eyes out to this. I felt completely lost and exhausted and a few days later my first love of 4 years broke my heart real bad. I couldn't listen to this again for a long time as it just tied me up with thoughts of heartbreak. That is, until it suddenly came on my spotify today and I tell you it was an amazing feeling to listen again and realise how far I've come since then. I feel free from all that pain now. Amazing how music can hallmark periods of time in your life. Love your song Emma.

Toys R us, Toys R us...why are you leaving us, leaving us? 😛 In all serious though this song is amazing; the title, aesthetics, melody, vocals are all gorgeous 😍 I wasn't into the previous tracks as much as I hoped to be, but everything about this one is beautiful and makes me want to hear the entire album. Easily my favourite out of every Emma song ever released so far
