This is the happiest song about drowning i've ever heard.

Kids are gonna listen to alvvays in 2030 and go “omg wish I was alive back then”

When I listen to this album on my way to work, I always tend to get to this one area of the city when this track comes on. That street is now forever connected to this song. I love how the mind works

This is the same feeling I remember from 1970 when I discovered the Beatles. 50 years on, and thankfully it's still possible to feel that again.

I'm 55 years old and i love this band.

The juxtaposition of upbeat music with lyrics dripping in solemnity is fucking brilliant

Everything I hear from this band sounds nostalgic, even the first time I hear it.

@generaldom

recommend listening this if you need to recover from a terrifying nightmare

I can listen to this song 20 times in a row. Never gets old.

There's some really beautiful moments here: when the hands spin across the screen as she says "I lost his hand in the current", when the bridge comes and the snare pops just so, and again when the instruments die off for the final chorus and she sings so lovely. This music is so heartfelt it's dug its way into my heart.

This band is so good; discovering them just a month ago was one of the best things to happen to me lately.

Elegant. Sweet. Unique. Original.
All the things I love about non mainstream Bands.

@KingKook

Such a sweet simple song, so jangley and echoy, like a lost song from so many decades ago coming back to gently haunt us. The Pop Song Phantom!

@Feralfax

The way she dances is so cute

Man this song is so magical. The instrumental is as gorgeous as always, so are Molly's vocals (to a point where both almost synchronize in an infinitely satisfying way) and all of that is pulled together by the whiplash of the lyrics painting an atmosphere of absolute tragedy.

A masterpiece. Love Alvvays.

The moment at 1:05 for music, lyrics, and visuals is so perfect. It hits me with a tidal wave of emotions every time. To me it's about losing one's path in life and not a lost love. I lost myself, it was the life I loved, and now I'm left trying to put it back together.

I just love that the last line in this song is “and now I am left burning through the trees”, and then the first line of Party Police (the next song on the album) is “walking through the trees”. Who knows if it was intentional, but I thought it was a nice touch to an already perfect album.

I was browsing in a record shop in London when they put on Alvvays. Needless to say I got the record and it's been very dear to me since.
