Not being able to go 65 is going to kill sales for these imo. Most people want a motorcycle that can make at least short trips on the freeway.

I say this as an electric motorcycle rider. These specs are exceedingly disappointing and overpriced for what you get. My only hope is Kawasaki doesn't give up entirely and say "see, no one bought these, there's no demand".

44 miles only, that’s crazy

Not what I was looking for but I think it would make a great city bike with the ease of battery swaps. In Japan they are trying out battery exchange stations so you can just swap your batteries for some charged ones on the go.

I feel like an e grom or whatever the kawsaki version is called would make more sense

For those specs I'd pay no more than 2k USD.

I ride 5 miles to work, and a half mile is highway speed (70 MPH). I would love this if it broke into 70. I will probably get a 400 and trade up when they improve the speed. I need escape danger velocity.

Thank you, Roman, and nice to see Alex in front of the camera. Good discussion, would be nice to have a car/motorcycle like my electric lawnmower. Interested in electric and hybrid vehicles but IMHO just not there yet. 1) range, 2) unless you're generating solar, where is the power coming from? 3) engine replacement lifespan, expense, 4) where do these batteries go

Surrons and Talaria Stings both have single removable batteries which can be removed in under 10 seconds, this is one of the main features of these electric mountain bikes - they can reach speeds of up to between 45mph and 70mph depending on the battery you use (and they only weigh around 132lbs :)

If you live in a busy city and never plan on leaving it these bikes could work for you.

I feel like this just makes sense if you can commute in good weather or want to cruise(slowly around town) on a weekend. Also, thanks you Alex for being prepared for a Red October. Go Phils and Go Birds!!!!!!!!!!

It's a great start. I would lease one for commuting if that was possible. Then , buy the 2nd or 3rd gen.

As someone who just purchased a Zero SR these two bikes are just ridiculous. Way too slow to be safe on the road and range is a joke. I wish my bike had more of each. But at least better than what we have here. Would never cross shop these bikes.

This product will be like practise for kawi. A manufacturer version of a test drive.

I wonder how much more it would have cost for the hardware components to make it 100mph capable with 100+ miles of range. I feel like the gap from this to that would be doable without the cost increasing more than $3-4k. Maybe this is just them testing the market, but it's not a real test if they don't make it appealing.

This bike, with solid state batteries (and same dual battery system) and ac/dc fastcharging would become very interesting.

I am making my Bachelor's thesis on swappable electric vehicle batteries with grid connection and seems bigger companies need help making actually good batteries and swapping system for electric motorcycles and mopeds. Those batteries seems to be quite low power when you should get like double power power from them.

Range and speed kill it for me, especially for the price. But Kawasaki has to start somewhere. Its basically an electric scooter. I cant even commute to and from work with that without risk of dead battery.
