Whenever I need a good cry of sadness, I usually play this song because it reminds me of what should have been in my life, and the soft piano is just a reflection of what could have been. I have been listenimg to Vince Guaraldi for over 40 years now and I can honestly love the man and his music. If only he lived a little while longer...

I had never heard this song before now. I looked up Vince Guaraldi on Wikipedia and discovered there that Cast Your Fate...was the tune that got Guaraldi and his trio the gig to make music for Charlie Brown specials, in which capacity he made music I have loved for my entire life.
I never heard this song until now, but my ears and heart instantly knew it.

I too was just a kid when I first heard this tune. We lived behind a burger drive-in where teen girls and boys took your orders and served the customers in roller skates. You could hear "Downtown" by Petula Clark; "Green Onions" by Booker T & the MGs; most early Beach Boys, Beatles, Buddy Holly and Little Richard played most of the evening. On Friday and Saturday nights it was insane, My brothers and sisters love it. My dad hated it.

I just won't understand why Hollywood hasn't done a movie of this great jazz pianists Vince Guaraldi, should be respected with such knowledge after all he has been listened to we child boomers and it's 53 yrs of Charlie Brown's Christmas speacal based on that alone deserves recognition!! Rest in peace Vince ❤

My great grandmother was a piano teacher, so they had a nice piano in their house. When she died, my mother inherited the piano, but we didn't have room in our house for it, so her mother kept it. Whenever we went over there, my mother could be counted on to play a few songs. This was one that she loved and played for us often, even though my grandmother hated jazz. As a consequence, I always think of my mother when I hear this gem. Invariably, I can hear my father saying "C'mon, Donna, play Cast Your Fate!" Thank you for uploading this one.

I was just a little kid in grade school in the 1960's when I fell in love with this song. It reminds me of crisp, new school dresses, kneesocks, breezes playing with falling leaves, and walking to school. Here I am in my 60's and I still think it is just beautiful.
