A very comprehensive list - great job! Closing the balcony curtain, locking the safe, picking up your clothes, grabbing your sea pass card, and removing the do not disturb sign from the door are "must dos" for us. On a recent cruise, we overheard a conversation between our cabin attendant and his supervisor regarding the inability to clean an adjacent cabin where clothes were everywhere (bed, sofa, and floor). As we walked by the room, it looked like their luggage had exploded since you could not enter the cabin without walking on clothes. We understand the supervisor left a note in the room advising the guest that their cabin would not be serviced until things were picked up.

One thing I do on port days before I leave my cabin is snap a photo of the “port agent” info listed on the daily planner for that day’s location. Just in case. And it’s easier than having to carry the paper planner.

We forgot the extra hotel keycard so i cut a card twice the size of a key card out of card stock. Folded it in half and stuck it in the key slot. It stayed the whole week! It was our first cruise! We got locked out our last night when we put our luggage in the hall!! LOL! When i went downstairs to get a new key my husband waited and along came our room steward and let him in! I was in line forever!! The magnet hooks and clips were a huge help! Didn't need the clothes line and clothes pins and towel chair hooks since it was sooo cold in Oct!! Loved the non serge power circle, packing cubes , and laundry basket! So many GREAT ideas!!!!! Loved taking pictures of name tags and persons picture to remember who to write the thankful comments about on the forms!! Thank you for all you teach us!!!!!!

When I was traveling with my elderly mom, I let the cabin steward know that she needed a cooler room for medical reasons and he was perfectly fine with us leaving a key in the slot- he even provided an extra one for us.

Great cabin stew on RCL. He laughed at me, made jokes, amazing personality. I made my bed, he tucked it in and smoothed it. I reused towels but asked for two more. I received 3 more in animal configurations that he took from the pool area because HE CAN. "I sleep with a towel around me and that's about it." "Thank you Sir, TMI. I hope you find the larger towels to your liking. I will change bed linens daily now." That was funny stuff.

This thank you is overdue. I watched so many of your videos to prepare for our last cruise. My husband and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary and I wanted to really step up my packing game! I wore everything I brought! I packed in a carry on for the 7 nights and 2 nights in Orlando. I cruise at this time only Disney. I like the Adult only area and I like the product. Sad our paths won’t likely cross but good thing is I bought so many of your cruise outfits. We would be twinning. We are very similar in size so I know they will fit and love your style! Thank you again I love the must do’s before leaving your cabin! Cruise courtesy so important to me!!!!

Yes, I got locked out of my cabin once when I was 12 years old. It was a port day. My parents were off in port, my younger sister was in the kids club, and I was wandering around the ship. As a preteen, I deeply enjoyed having this time to myself. Anyway, I went back to the cabin to get something and accidentally left my card inside. I’m not going to lie, I panicked a bit. My first thought was to see if the cabin attendant could open the door for me, but they weren’t around, so I went to guest services. I didn’t know what they would do but figured they could at least tell me where to go/what to do. And of course, they deactivated that card and gave me a new one. I was so ashamed, I hid the now-deactivated card and didn’t tell my parents until years later.

For ports, don't forget to make sure you take the port/ship information in case of emergency. Whether you do an independent excursion, or a cruise excursion as well as just wandering the area on your own. That way if something happens you can contact the ship or whomever they show and advise what's going on. Sometimes, depending on what's going on, they can assist to get you help.

Great list. I would recommend carrying a small supply of $1 bills to tip buskers and to make small transactions with street vendors.

For credit cards, don't just rely on American Express. In Aruba, only MasterCard or Visa was accepted in many places. One card may not suffice.

I agree with all your suggestions. Not necessarily a must-do but we leave cash tips Every few days which when totaled up would have been the amount we would have left at the end. This shows our appreciation as we go along.

If your cabin does have one of those slots that control the power, as Alana says use an old hotel or even old cruise card… but punch a hole in it and attach to a lanyard. Then attach the lanyard to a magnetic hook above the slot so it is always handy if it has been taken out by the cabin steward or someone else

I ask my steward to fill the ice bucket every day since I use ice in my room. I empty the bucket before I leave the room, making it clear that I want more ice---and just as a courtesy so the steward can focus on filling the bucket with ice, without being confused about whether I want a fresh batch of ice and also because the steward doesn't need to discard any water that may have accumulated.😃

A very complete list Ilana. We usually eat breakfast on our balcony. Years ago we used to put the tray outside now they stay on our balciny. An officer told me it was a safety hazzard putting trays in the hallway. Straightening up not only helps the cabin steward it makes the cabin more welcoming when we return. Hope you are enjoying your cruise Ilana!

I used an old hotel card as well in the slot by my door but mainly because I didn’t want to be pulling my cruise card out of the holder. What I did though was use a magnet that has a clip. That way when I left the room I’d pull the card and just stick it on the wall above the slot.

Good list of tips. It doesn't hurt to get to know your cabin attendants. One time, when I accidentally left my card in my stateroom, because my cabin attendants knew who I was and which stateroom was mine, they were happy enough to let me back in.

I've locked myself out three times in 39 cruises. It's worse for me, because almost all my cruises have been as a solo passenger.
