This is what I love about this show - that it's not just satire and not just parody. Other shows would have probably just referenced some real band that had lost its shine and luster and add some satirical comment. But BBs make the joke about the one-hit wonder band -> after that Bob has a genuine fear that he may end up like them (because he's written like a real human and not some joke/meme repository)-> then the one-hit wonder band get elevated from their joke status to being actual human beings too by showing us how they rose to the occasion and made people have fun and had fun themselves despite their problems -> Bob gets inspired by them anew and starts dancing happily (mirrored wonderfully by the flashback of him having fun with the song again in his youth).
P.S. I loved how they mentioned that Rudy's dad was a fan of the song as well, made me think how he and Bob probably were humming and grooving to it at the same time back in the day.
