Rest in Peace, Melanie. You were a shining light. My youngest sister in Germany named her only child, a daughter - my niece, after you in 1975. You were her very most favorite singer. Now you are able to watch from heaven and see how much everyone loved you.

Oh man I am heartbroken. I have loved Melanie since I was a kid. She was so much more than "Brand New Key" Her music was inspiring and lovely. One of the best songwriter-singers in the world and she will be so missed. I am listening to Gather Me right now crying my eyes out. I love you Melanie and hope you have gone to a wonderful place past the horizon.

Soar with the angels ~ Gods speed. I was 12 when I first heard your voice (1968). Would lay outside on the grass with your voice coming thru my bedroom windows , record player sending your angelic voice thru the air as I lay in the grass looking at the stars. You helped change our “LOOK” at the world around us. I will continue to play your music and close my eyes and think back to a kinder , more beautiful time. ❤❤❤❤❤

Such sad news. A beautiful and spirit filled person. I once interviewed her on my radio show and she was kind and generous with her time. And she told great stories. When an artist from my generation moves on, it’s tough. Some deaths are felt more than others. This is one of them.
