Deutsche Grammophon continues the genre-defying project Fragments, an invitation from Deutsche Grammophon for thirteen leading electronic artists to respond to a single composer. With one single released each month, Fragments gradually builds over the course of a year.

FRAGMENTS – the album project celebrating music past and present by inviting some of today’s most innovative artists - goes into the second season by reworking the compositions of composer Lili Boulanger featuring Niklas Paschburg with Cortège.

“The beautiful melody of Lili Boulanger’s Cortège got stuck in my head after I’d listened to it for the first time. It accompanied me for a couple of days until I decided to rework it. I’ve felt the urge of bringing it into a different harmony and mood, which changes the perception of the melody. Almost as if there is more to tell but it’s holding it back, especially in contrast to the original version, where it’s shining in its purest form. A changing point of the rework happens in the mid part, from where I’ve left the territory of Cortège and gone on a new journey until the circle gets closed with the initial melody of Boulanger’s Cortège.” – Niklas Paschburg.
