Rewatching Mei's story really hits home just how tragic it actually is. She went into cryo sleep expecting to wake up later and do science with her friends but due to outside factors she had no control over all of her friends die - and without the signal she could be dead too.
What's more she is stranded with the possibility of no one in the world knowing she is there and no chance of anyone coming to rescue her.
