You're assumption about Fleet vehicles is completely wrong. As someone who works for a company that has a Fleet of vehicles, I can tell you that the vehicles are used and abused heavily. These vehicles are not necessarily taken care of but it depends on the company. Aside from tires and oil changes, most companies with Fleet vehicles that have large warranties on each vehicle don't bother servicing them. And remember one thing people don't treat company vehicles like their own vehicle.

I canā€™t believe tfl thinks $40k for a used truck with 100k miles is ā€œaffordableā€

Those prices with those miles are absolutely ridiculous.

Was hoping you'd tell us what they sold for at the end. That was basically the whole point, to see how "affordable" they'd be.

The hitch on that Ram looks like itā€™s never been used. Not so much as a paint chip.

Employee driven vehicles are beat within an inch of their life. As a non-car guy friend once told me: "My company f350 was in the shop, so I was told to use the 1/2 ton dodge. Came home from a job towing the enclosed trailer, had to keep my foot to the floor to stay at 70mph. Transmission is having problems now"

Fleet users have largely abandoned diesel engines in HD pickups because of the rampant diesel emission system issues. Also, on used fleet pickups, look at engine idle hours. Many of them may have thousands of idle hours.

According to the NHTSA "The "incomplete vehicle" type was established to deal with situations where the manufacturer did not know what the vehicle's final type would be when it assigned the VIN."

It really depends on which one can store the most bolgna&salami sandwhiches. Do that review next.

I recently bought a 2013 F250 FX4 with 90k miles for $28k. It's got the 6.2L as well. It's on 37's with steel bumper. I don't need to tow anything, so far I'm happy!

It was a huge let down to not see what these actually sold for. We got used to that being the final segment of these videos.

That incomplete vehicle does mean it was sold as a cab & chassis truck.

I would say the best used vehicle to buy would be from a federal agency. They have fleet maintenance schedules that are adhered to which is connected to their budget (they have to make it last until the fleet budget allows them to buy a new truck-so the budget is considered twice). Buying a fleet vehicle from a private company-I'd stay far away from.

The Ram ZF 8 speed is the same basic transmission as in the Hellcat. Very well designed and used all over the world in most mfgs.
