Here's why your PS5 disc drive is loud or not working properly.. If your PlayStation 5 is making noise from the disc drive it could need a replacement soon due to failure with a expensive repair cost! It's common for your PS5 to make vibrating noise from disc or sound when accepting & reading the discs, but if you notice excessive or constant non-stop vibration noise coming from the disc or drive, it could be bad news.. However If your PS5 disc drive does sound louder than it should, you can try these easy tips first before spending the repair cost or sending to Sony for a warranty fix. These are all the quick & easy fixes I found for the PS5 disc drive that everyone can try first! The mouse pad trick is a popular fix due to vibration noise from disc, you can also try the PS5 manual eject which has also helped based on PlayStation Reddit posts I've seen. Hopefully this helps & you find these tips useful!

During my first few months with my PS5 at launch, i had a disc get stuck a few times & i had to remove it manually & also a few disc read errors. After having a look online at the time, i decided to place my PS5 in a horizontal position. Since then, i have had no issues with my disc drive. The sound from it is the same as it was at launch, with no increase in decibels.

actually had a similar issue with mine, removed the disc using the manual eject as seen here, and at first it didn't seem like it did anything. couple days later it was silent and working great

While the game is being installed on the disc, it is quite noisy, but after that it is not heard at all.

Crazy I found your vid, I used a giant mouse pad a year ago it helped somewhat. I also used small pieces of thick rubber tape put between the ps5 plates and the console which helps to reduce the vibration. That included with the ejection screw adjusting has helped alleviate the issue entirely

Thnx for the video bro!! Ever since I bought the new covers for my ps5; I have a problem ejecting my disk. I always gotta remove the bottom cover to take the disk out. This never happened before until I recently had new covers .

I get ALL my Fav games as Digital & NEVER leave a disk in this drive when not required as it will just spin & get checked on for no reason adding wear & tear on the drive. JG, Thx for the great Videos ! Cheers !

I got my PS5 back during launch week in 2020 and my disc drive had been sort of defective since day 1. I didn't want to send it in because of the lack of stock and how long I'd be without it, but playing disc games was unbearable. Upon putting a disc into the drive, it would be extremely loud. I've seen and heard what a normal PS5 is supposed to sound like and it was not at all even comparable- it sounded like every time I put a disc in the drive that it was being eaten. After 2-3 hours of playing, the game would crash and say the disc cannot be read. Even if I was playing a digital game with a different disc game in the PS5 at the same time, it'd still crash and say the disc cannot be read. Every time I took a disc out it would have scratches on the edge of it. After 2 years I finally opened my PS5 disc drive and lo and behold, there is a blue rubber piece that is supposed to keep the disc in place and it was kind of mushed and not sitting flush. After adjusting it to how the other rubber pieces looked, my PS5 hasn't crashed once and sounds normal for once. A small fix that Sony was going to charge me $240+ for ended up being a small piece of rubber that wasn't sitting flush.
