It's almost more brutal in a world like this to say "I hope you live". It's harsh and beautiful, lovely & haunting.

I feel like half the people here found this by complete chance. Literally just popped up on my recommended even though I don't listen to post hardcore. So glad I pressed play because I'm obsessed with the meaning and symbolism this holds. "I hope you live" has a sad but hopeful feeling to it, like a warning that today's world isn't designed for us to live life like it's meant to be lived, but that there is a way to just be happy with what you have, which the empty plate symbolizes at least for me. I know the meaning is probably about mental health which I also agree with, but I love that it has different meanings to everyone.

She was abused, in a relationship where nothing felt real, she just stood and stared, coming to terms with her situation despite the overwhelming feeling of drowning and loneliness. One day, she realized she wasn't in the same situation. She had found her way out and there was a peace. But how could there be peace? Something had to be wrong. Her world couldn't be OK. The peace is unnerving before she sees him again. Water. Drowning. Despair. She lashes out against the feelings of old, she can't let him go. Anger. After she's finished, her mania dissipates. She looks around. He really isn't here anymore. There really is peace. So she reflects. On the person she knew, the person she loved. Despite it all, the absolute consuming feeling of trauma and the torture she was tragically forced to endure, despite how all consuming the abuse was and how little space she had in her reality for anything but her abuser, despite everything, "I hope you live".
The trauma never leaves. The true reality almost seems dull compared to how all consuming the past relationship was. And the love for some reason will never go away, despite the anger and other emotions that come in parallel. We will lash out to the innocent when everything is OK, we will struggle to live despite the abuse being behind us, it will be a life long battle, but that's what it is to live. I can't express how close this song feels to me but it's absolutely beautiful and painful and a perfect portrayal of trauma. That's the takeaway I had although I didn't dig in to every bit, but it's absolutely beautiful and makes me feel like I'm not alone with what I've been through.
To everyone out there, I hope you live.

TL;DR: Thank you for watching/listening. As someone who is generally a little wary of algorithms and their knowing us, I feel both conflicted and stoked to see how many of you have found us because of one. Weâve been watching the numbers go up and have been a bit baffled, but it honestly means everything to us to be able to connect with so many of you. Since I canât really thank a bit of code for the reach, Iâll just thank all you wonderful humans for watching and listening.
