If you donā€™t want to watch some of them but are still curious, Mista GG is an awesome creator who does reviews of disturbing movies in a lighthearted way thatā€™s watchable but also doesnā€™t make it too light if that makes sense. From this list, heā€™s done The Sadness and Soft and Quiet, but heā€™s also done Nekromantik and Pink Flamingos for example. Really recommend his channel in general! ā™„ļø

Having boundaries is SO important in media. A lot of people like to debate your authenticity as a horror fan if there are certain subjects you don't want to engage with and I think you putting this out there does so much good for the community.

as an argentinian horror fan iā€™m super excited to see how well ā€œwhen evil lurksā€ is doing!! here in argentina we have many talented film makers but horror has always been overlooked in some way or another, so itā€™s great to see how it grows! i myself havenā€™t watched the movie yet because of how disturbing it seems but was waiting for you to talk about it since i love your channel so much and it prides me to see an argentinian film make it internationally. great video as always, hope youā€™re doing well!

As an autistic woman, I do the exact same thing with every horror movie, looking up the plot to see if I can handle it. Children and animals are off limits, or I will have a very visceral reaction and it will be hard for me to shake. I also struggle with SA because of a previous abusive relationship. Nothing wrong with knowing your boundaries!

Thanks for normalizing not having to watch every single horror movie to be a ā€œtrue horror fanā€ ps your hair looks amazing šŸ–¤

I have to say...when evil lurks has set the bar really high for me from here on out. Not just with the gore and shocking scenes but with the atmosphere, the slow burns, not having jump scares every 5 seconds, you really feel helpless watching it. It is the best horror I've seen since the original exorcist when I was a teenager.

Canā€™t get enough of these ā¤ letā€™s all embrace our boundaries in watching movies. I just watched the sadness yesterday and I regret it. I knew I would, but I still watched it. And now I know why itā€™s called the sadness. Cause it made me really sad.

When Evil lurks is like Hereditary just a little gorier. It's not the gore that's disturbing, it's the atmosphere and anxiety of everything you thought was going happen to totally do a 180.

Me (not a parent) am so excited about Terrifier 3 but itā€™s super valid for anyone to not watch a movie for whatever the reason. Youā€™re not a bad person for enjoying a movie someone else finds uncomfortable and youā€™re a bad person for shaming someone for refusing to watch a movie

I love how open you are about your boundaries and why you wonā€™t watch certain movies. I wish there were more people like you in the horror community.

Freaky was absolutely amazing. One of my very fave horror films of the last decade. I am also not a huge fan of horror comedy but Freaky was a total blast.

I love when you make these type of videos as itā€™s so validating for me! I often feel like Iā€™m not ~actually~ a horror fan cause I donā€™t want to suffer but want to have a good time instead. But I love horror and just know what I donā€™t want to see!

For me as a Terrifier fan, my opinion on the whole discourse is simply people are allowed to want to watch the film it doesn't make them bad people and people are allowed to not want to watch the film as long as you aren't judging people for their choice who cares. I don't particularily want Art to kill the kid but without sounding like a freak I personally will still be seeing the film regardless.

I will never get over how much I appreciate you for legitimizing those of us who don't like extreme gore and all that as "still real horror fans". I've always been more of a paranormal/psychological horror person and never liked the gore-fests. It's all horror, though - and it was always hard to hear people dismiss those of us who just like a different kind of horror. You're a real one, and I love your videos! <3

Boundaries are so important, especially with the media we choose to consume. You arenā€™t ā€œmore of a fanā€ because you are willing to watch/read everything. People have triggers and thatā€™s okay. Letā€™s all respect that.

even as a 20-something non-parent, i still find it hard to watch movies where children are hurt/murdered. i'm in the same boat as you as to where I don't think it should be off-limits for children to die in horror, but I do think it has to be intergral to the story and not extremely graphic. hereditary is a good example of this (although pretty graphic).

Got about 40 minutes into Soft and Quiet without ever hearing about it before - was so shocked about what was going on...i stopped it and read the plot summary and was so happy with my decision to stop watching it

even though i would watch some of the movies on this list, these vids are so comforting to me. i refuse to watch any movies with on screen sa or extreme and targeted violence against women, and i hate that theres a stigma in the horror community about having boundaries. thank you for making these vids!!

I love these videos because itā€™s good to discuss boundaries in horror/in general, but also because they give me a lot of films to add to my watchlist šŸ˜…

I watched Soft and Quiet without knowing anything about it and thinking it was going to be a slow burn horror movieā€¦ and as soon as I finished it I wished I could erase it from my mind. I had the worst time ever watching it, itā€™s one of those movies that leave you feeling nauseous and empty inside. Iā€™d recommend you stay away from it. On the other hand I also watched Titane without knowing what I was getting into and I loved it! Itā€™s more of a drama with REALLY WEIRD parts but itā€™s definitely not a traumatic watch. Itā€™s just super freaking weird.
