Drive-thrus were developed in the 1950s to make fast-food even faster. Drive-thrus have been surging in popularity—nearly 40% of consumers reported they’re using the drive-thru more often. To stay competitive, providing solid drive-thru service can be make or break for a restaurant.

The duel lanes at McDonald's are the perfect breeding ground for road rage at the merging area.

FUN FACT: digital “menus” make you spend more by using videos/moving images. The combination of your eyes not having enough time to see the tiny price print and only the bigger picture of the food + the feeling of having limited time to order makes you make a decision not considering the price.

Chick-fil-A was quite innovative when they introduced workers with tablets to the drive thru line.

These CNBC videos that talk about food really are the best, man. Either that or it's because I'm obese.

It’s not even drive thru anymore it’s drive up & wait 10 minutes in the parking lot for your food

I always find it absurd when some people would rather wait 20 minutes in a drive through line running their engine for $5 meal rather than just walk in and get it in 3 minutes. The 20 minute line completely negates the point of “fast food” which is sacrificing your long term health for short term convenience.

The Dunkin Doughnuts drive through is a hellscape. No one knows what donuts are left, the employees have to say no to 7 different kinds of doughnuts and the signs don't always match the stock. I actually gave up cancelled the order and walked in. I don't even try anymore.

I work part time at a drive through, and I understand the business aspect of it, but I believe we should serve those inside first, since they actually bothered to come in. My state also has an additional dine-in tax, even though those dining in aren’t idling in their cars and being the most demanding.

FUN FACT: McDonalds’s first Drive-Thru was built in Sierra Vista, Arizona and is still there even though it was recently remodeled. The idea for McDonald’s to start adding Drive-Thru’s actually came from the location in Sierra Vista because of employees at the close by Fort Huachuca Army Base. So if anyone thought they did it because of competition, nope they did it cause at the time soldiers were apparently not allowed to go inside anywhere outside of the base while wearing their uniforms. A few years after the first McDonald’s Drive-Thru it became more about competition & popularity rather then having a way for those who served in the military at the time be able to get fast food. I have personally been to that location many times but don’t go there every time I go to McDonald’s because I don’t live in the area of the first one. Hope y’all learned something! Was hoping CNBC would mention that it was built in Arizona all they said it was built in 1975 and the footage they showed wasn’t of the first one lol 😂
