Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band co-wrote this and is doing some backing vocals! Which is rather fitting as he is a preacher's son.
I just learned this as I was reading about him, after looking to see if Robert Palmer ever covered his band's song, You Dropped the Bomb On Me. I was looking, cuz it sounds like something Robert Palmer would do! He didn't cover it, but he did give Charlie's '82 song Early in The Morning a second Go Round. (Similar rhythms in the songs.) I tell you, considering one is black and one is white, their phrasings and styles are so close to each other. Also: Both sexy. I like the Robert Palmer version better, but probably mostly because The Gap Band put an annoying clap track on their version, and it's a tad too intrusive.
I'm a huge Annie Lennox Fan. And Dave Stewart! Been recently checking out an album he produced, for an artist he discovered, Thomas Lindsey. Songs like Another Lie. Storm Came. I Know How You Feel. Amitie. (on Spotify) A remarkable voice and range. Give some songs 2 listens. They grow. Yes, that is a man singing!

I'm sorry but i don't get those bashing this video .........For pity's sake let them have fun it's an upbeat song not every video has to be so serious or meaningful sometimes it's great to just see a bunch of dancing like a party for your soul . The songs got a great beat i did not even know this song existed i just found it and stumbled upon this video . Love the song and video as for all you critics lighten up over the years they have made some great videos allow them to just go wild and have some fun for a change .

Fun to see this video 24 years after the making of .this is my hand painting the last touch on the matte painting I made during the nite on the set with the space lights and the camera as companions. To be ready for the shooting at dawn.I remember Dave playing for us as a(very happy) few some covers from the Beatles it was a great moment of simplicity and friendship : so rare in this business. Thanks Dave . Recorded in Stains studios France .
