This is episode 204 of the Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)! When it comes to movie-based games, you’d think The Nerd covered them all by now, but here’s another one based on the Bruce Willis film, Hudson Hawk on NES. The movie is a bit of a mixed bag, so lets see what kind of "bag' the game is! Released by Sony Imagesoft in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, you play as the titular Hudson Hawk (Willis), the world's greatest thief, who is forced to steal three of Da Vinci's precious artifacts by the Mario Brothers Mafia. The movie also starred Danny Aiello, Andie MacDowell, Richard E. Grant, and Sandra Bernhard.

Mike did a stream where he played this, got very angry, and said "I know someone who needs to know about this game."

That ShitPickle monologue hit me right in heart, man. That story should be a major motion picture.

Electronic Gaming Monthly actually has a pretty amusing story involving this game. Apparently their editors worked out this big promotion for both the movie and the game and they wanted to have it on their front cover. The end result was a low-res cut-out pic of Bruce Willis awkwardly standing on the right side the side of the cover next to headlines and thumbnails of other stories inside that particular issue. Electronic Gaming Monthly would later call it their worst cover ever, especially after both the movie and the game went on to flop hard.

“You may have saved the economic fate of the whole world” is probably the funniest ending quote ever in a game

This really felt like an old AVGN episode, I still remember the days of binge watching of the nerds so I can see someone beat a difficult classic game because I wouldnt dare touch said game.

The fact that AVGN can get 20k views in 1 hour, after over a decade and a half of doing this, really says something

I love the movie inserts. Reminds me of earlier Cinemassacre days when almost every video had them. Loved exploring the cinemassacre website and finding some of non-AVGN videos to enjoy after school

Man, this episode REALLY brought back the nostalgia for me, as it reminded me of some of your earlier videos such as Back to the Future, where you would intersplice clips from the movie. Hilarious and awesome! Hard to believe how many years have passed since those old videos. Thank you for always being there to give me a laugh!
