you did a video not too long ago explaining how smaller dog breeds could get a partially collapsed trachea, I noticed a bunch of the symptoms in my grandparents dog so took her to the vets and they confirmed that she had a partially collapsed trachea. Thanks to your videos she's ok and we know how to help her!

0:56 "Bred to be fearless, which still holds true to this day." As the pupper goes in for a 'help me!' Hug. Cute!

I had a dachshund for twenty years named Gadget. He was the most well behaved boy I've ever met, and even though he's been gone for three years now I can't bring myself to consider getting another.

my family had a longhaired dachshund named Moochie. he was indeed quite aggressive--when food was involved! other than that he was very sweet. at the age of 5 he got a slipped disc (i think from digging too much at the beach, weirdly), and went lame in his back legs. luckily with 6 weeks of crate rest, he regained the use of his legs and lived to be 15 and a half. they are definitely a small breed with a big personality!

I was raised by dachshunds, had them for fifty years and saw two through back surgery. The surgeon told us that Gonzo was not peeing as expected after surgery and they had to squeeze him to empty his bladder; there were concerns there might be nerve damage. We got him home and straight to the back yard and propped him up next to his very favorite thing to pee on. He peed. And he peed. We didn't think he'd stop peeing. And we realized that there wasn't a damn thing wrong with his bladder. The problem had been that the vet hospital had been expecting him to pee on their schedule, on a vertical object of their choosing. And that was not how Gonzo the Obnoxious rolled. He lived long and prospered, and is sorely missed over a quarter of a century later.

They really are fearless. I once owned a dwarf-dachshund, a breed that is somehow even smaller but with a better dog-to-leg ratio and she once chased an entire herd of cows across a field, even though you could barely see her in the grass (just the tip of the tail emerged occasionally)

I own a doxie and when you said ferocious I just looked under my table at the whining sausage of whinieness (he cries if I leave him home) and was like "Yup. Fierce. Requires muzzle to keep from being kissed into eternity." He's probably the friendliest dog I've ever owned and he's a big baby.

I've had around 12 dachshunds in my life, and zero were aggressive unless you were a groundhog. They were all dog, cat, and people-friendly. The only slightly aggressive dog I've owned is a chi weenie. She was a little food possessive. My mother's dachshund lay in bed with her 24/7 when she had cancer. only leaving to eat and go to the bathroom. He knew she didn't have long. her two dogs the dachshund and chi weenie lay with her and licked her hand as she passed away.

"Mogyi" in Hungarian is actually an umbrella term for various nuts, so basically they both could be called Peanut :D But they are adorable <3

They might not of wanted to come in and get a groom, but they were gentle and polite during the groom! And yes, I have been pronouncing the breed incorrectly! Thanks for the history lesson on them!šŸ‘šŸ¶šŸ’•

I think I understood the reason for the names of these adorable dachshunds: Mogyi is a Hungarian brand of salty snacks but above all of peanuts, and its sister is called (exactly) Peanut... I love when owners give their dogs creative names.

I recently got into dachshund ownership. Got him at 8 weeks he's 11 months now.. I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is such a little sweet heart.. he can be super stubborn but he's never been agressive with anyone he loves getting pats and attention.

In my postal days, this was the only breed I had chase me while delivering. 3 different ones. God their stumpy legs and long back with pure aggressionā€¦ I laughed all the way. Gave me new respect for the breed.

Fun fact: Instead of Dachshund, we often just call them 'Dackel' in Germany! The wobbly headed Dachshund figurines you can sometimes see in car windows and such is, because of this, fittingly called 'Wackel Dackel' = Wiggle Dachshund

My Dachshund was aggressive from a puppy, she didnā€™t want to socialise with anything or anyone from day one. She doesnā€™t like kids, dogs, cats, people or change, sometimes I wonder if she even likes herselfā€¦but despite that sheā€™s an unbelievably loving and faithful little dog and we love her for that (even though we havenā€™t had a holiday in years! šŸ™„).

We have had Dachshunds for 15 years. Long haired minis. Every one has a completely different personality. Our youngest looks like a miniature, short legged Doberman.

When I was a kid, there was an adorable Dachshund next door named Max that used to squeeze himself under the backyard fence every time we had BBQ to join us. So many fun memories with that dog. And he really loved BBQ.
