"The Wizard" is a single from rock band Uriah Heep's 1972 album Demons & Wizards and was the first single to be lifted from the album.
It was composed by Mark Clarke and Ken Hensley.
It is a gentle, semi-acoustic ballad whose lyrics deal with a man wandering until he meets "the Wizard of a thousand kings", a possible reference to the druid Merlin, to Gandalf, to an angel or even God.

Absolutely my most favorite Uriah Heep song. Can't believe Ken just recently died. RIP Ken, Gary, Lee and David.

seriously underrated band. They seemed to always be second fiddle to Deep Purple but these guys wrote some monumental stuff

sad to say 4 members from that line up are sadly gone, only guitarist Mick Box is still with us, this was their best line up in my opinion, R.I.P. Gary, David, Lee & Ken

When I first heard this song it was magical. I was in New York and my brother turned me on to it. When I hear it I think of him.
