“You Can’t Tell Me They’ve All Escaped A War-Torn Country!” | UK And Ireland Row Over Migration

Rishi Sunak rejected the idea of accepting the return of asylum seekers from Ireland amid concerns the UK Government’s Rwanda policy was driving the flow of migrants across the border with the republic.

The Prime Minister said he was “not interested” in any sort of returns deal if the European Union did not allow the UK to send back asylum seekers who had crossed the English Channel from France.

The issue has been highlighted after the passage of the UK Government’s Rwanda legislation, which paves the way for asylum seekers to be sent on a one-way trip to the African nation.

The UK Government has hailed the deterrent effect of the Rwanda scheme, which is intended to help stop small boat crossings from France.

But as a knock-on effect, the Irish government has claimed that the number of asylum seekers crossing from Northern Ireland is now “higher than 80%” due to a shift in migration patterns in recent months.

Talk’s Jeremy Kyle is joined by former Conservative special adviser James Price.

They are already in France which is a EU safe haven. and they have no reason to come to the UK other than financial gain and personal benefits.

This is downright ridiculous, if I want to go to any country without a passport I would not be allowed. Why are these people just allowed to move about freely as they please??

I doubt many of them have escaped war torn countries. What sort of man runs away leaving the women, children, sick and elderly behind?

Don't know why Ireland is worried, as soon as they realise that Rwanda doesn't work they will be back! In any case, Labour will be in power shortly and they will get rid of the agreement! They have nothing to worry about and seeing as the Irish are only giving them a tent and 38 euro's it's a no brainer they will be back in their droves!

These migrants have travelled thousands of kilometres over land and sea, you have to be very naive to think that they are going to leave quietly

It would make a massive difference to round up and deport all those 100,000s who have been denied leave to remain over the last 10 years.
