My 8 year old granddaughter sang this song to my husband and I the other day. He's been teaching her the guitar and she loves this song. She sang the entire song to us while strumming the guitar. Of course she doesn't understand what it's about, but by the time she was finished we both were in tears. Amazing song

i miss my old self. i miss being happy. i miss being carefree. i miss feeling loved. i miss being able to laugh. i feel like i'm drowning and everyone around me is happy. i miss being able to control my thoughts. i miss being able to hang out with people without constantly having my head tell me things. i miss smiling. i miss other emotions. i miss feeling things. i miss sleeping peacefully, not to escape this horrid world and my mind, but to sleep. i miss saying "im tired" and meaning i just want to sleep and not meaning im tired with life. i miss having friends. i miss not feeling scared and tired at the same time. // tysm for the support and kindness <3

Stop scrolling.
I know you're crying.
I know it's late.
But it'll be alright.
We all love you whoever you are.
Just go to bed and sleep.
I know you don't want to.
But you have to sleep because it's late.
Close your eyes and relax.
It's okay if you cry.
Everybody cries.
Your best friend.
Your mom and dad.
Your grandparents.
Everyone.
Just remember that you are loved from the bottom of our hearts.

Is this song talking about someone whose thinking of suicide? Cause to me, it sounds like you know someone who wants to finally leave earth, and youve kept trying and trying to heal or help them but to no avail until finally you accept that they just want to go & now before they choose to go when youre not looking, your saying the last things in your head. Or am i way off?

âBefore You Goâ is about the aftermath of someone close committing suicide, including feeling like you are responsible for their death. Throughout the track, Lewis repeatedly questions whether he could have done something to prevent it.
In an interview with Apple Musicâs Beats 1, Lewis said:
Itâs about suicide. Not necessarily the act of it, but, like, after it happens, the aftermath of it. And people kind of blaming themselves or starting to think, you know, âWhat could I have done to help that person?â or whatever. When I was five or six, my aunt committed suicide and I just remember recently speaking to my mom about her feelings. About going through that sort of rigmarole in your head of like, you know, âWhat could I have done here? Could I have done anything?â

I love this song, but right now it hits differently for me. I'm dealing with my husband passing away a couple days ago. I miss him so much and I will always love him forever and always! Im only 35 and he was only 39. I don't feel like anyone understands me. But this song really hit home, thank you! Keep making more music!!
