55:43 whenever I run into hitbox symptoms like this, usually it is because the NPC or creature is resized in an imperfect manner. The model appears bigger but the hitboxes remain the same size. When this happens with mod-upsized giants, their entire upper body is a ghost and you get headshots around their belly button. It is possible these werewolves were upsized (vanilla?) and so only hitting their lower body or human sized hitbox actually connects
Edit 1:28:19 seee!!!!! Okay so I'm not sure my understanding of the mechanism is correct, those look like normal sized ash spawn, but still. Something about aiming for the lower body. The amount of jank in Skyrim is fathomless and incomprehensible.

FTR the dragon priest at Bloodskal doesn't have to be engaged at all. It guards the wordwall and treasure but you can stick close to the wall and go right through to the black book -
