This song and its lyrics always made me think of The Little Prince :
"They (the grown-ups) never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you, "What does his voice sound like? What games does he love best? Does he collect butterflies?" Instead, they demand: "How old is he? How many brothers has he? How much does he weigh? How much money does his father make?" Only from these figures do they think they have learned anything about him (...).
But certainly, for us who understand life, figures are a matter of indifference".
So now tell me, do you struggle with umbrellas ? Can you count to ten in German ? What can you see from your window ?

Tom Rosenthal songs were the only one that i'd sing in the car when I was driving with my ex girlfriend. She bought all of his albums and would make them play each time i'd be the designated driver, she said the ride would be 10x times better. Even tho a lot of his songs were sad, they would make our ride full of love and hapiness. Since we left eachother, his songs became 10x better. Each time i'm now listening to his songs, i feel love, sadness, hapiness and nostalgy all at once. Thanks Tom for making me feel alive, and thanks for everyone here in this comment section for helping him to continue being who he is, an awesome guy, with an awesome talent and an awesome heart. 💗

Are you thinking?
Is she close?
Do you struggle with umbrellas?
Are you leaving?
Are you home?
Have you timed this badly?
Have we met before?
Are you staying?
Did you fall?
Can you count to ten in German?
Can you whisper?
Can you lie?
Did you design your own website?
Have we met before?
Are you sleeping?
Are you wise?
What can you see from your window?
Are you hungry?
Are you calm?
Are you on a great adventure?
Have we met before?

"Are you scared?" (at 2:21) - the way the light hits the owl as they both realize what's about to happen is tragic and quite poignant. THIS is why Tom's music is so great - because when he makes something, he knows how to make it memorable. Keep being you, Tom.

I just heard on Spotify yesterday and gave me goosebumps. The lyrics give off a book story, from their first meet to their next meet again. I didnt watch the mv at that time yet so there was a lot made up in my mind. Now I watch this and realize it's 1000 more poetic vibe, two figures that at first are two living beings, meeting by chance and clumsily catching each other attention go like "do you struggle with umbrellas", "timed this badly", or some awkward conversations as "can you count to ten in german", "can you whisper", "did you design your website"... These are all the beginning of something blossom and youthful. Those two animals went on dates, "are you calm" when staring into the sunset, "on a great adventure" flying above the golden bridge, so close to each other that they asked "have we met before" lying on the meadow looking up to stars.
But then, Squirrel did something strange, "are you reading" when not reading the warning sign, "did you choose" question whether that's what it chose, to cross the street without looking around, or did Squirrel know how it would go "Can you see into the future". "Are you listening", "Are you scared", Owl rushing to Squirrel but they werent scared. They knew it when they faced the car, Squirrel knew the future "will you know it when you see it".
So after that, they became figures, for taxidermy animals. Go back to the start of the video, have they met before? "Have we met before?" they asked again on the last video as they closed toward the other. Well the whole story is about their past lives, they have met before, and now they are at it again

This song always breaks my hearth. Makes me remember the last day of my beloved dog, when I took her paw for last time and makes me wonder if someday I will see her again, I hope heaven exist. I can't listening this song without crying. Sorry for the bad English, I just wanna to share my feelings about this song, a beautiful song. 💔

not sure how you managed to inject so much visceral emotion into two deceased creatures but I’m here for it
