Iâm not surprised at this. She still defends Abby Lee Miller and is besties with James Charles. She also made fun of one of the original dancers of dance moms and went off at her mom when she said that Gianna, Abbyâs assistant teacher, wasnât the kindest to her and her daughter. Itâs just disturbing bc Jojo has a a huge child audience. Of course itâs not her responsibility to be a role model, but itâs gross to defend a groom when your when your fanbase are kindergarten to fourth grade aged children.

Jojo was definitely groomed herself. To be able to say that you met this Adult at the age of 12 and became "friends", it is concerning to see that in her 20s she can't see how that is completely inappropriate. My hope for her is that she doesn't repeat the patterns in her own adulthood that she was subjected to by the adults that surrounded her when she was growing up (Like Colleen Ballinger and Shane Dawson).
I don't think she is a bad person for her feelings regarding everything that's come out, I believe she is still blind to the gravity of the situation because it was so normalized for her in her own childhood. It's. Not. Her. Fault.

Hearing JoJo talk about this makes it sound very much like she was also a victim and hasnât come to terms with it yet, so she thinks what happened to her was ok - and in turn was ok for all the other kids, too. She was obviously emotionally abused on Dance Moms and that likely made it a lot easier for Colleen and other adults to further emotionally abuse her. It could take a really long time for her to see and accept that.
I am 38 and have only recognized and come to terms with my childhood abuse, trauma, and emotional grooming in the last three months (thanks to my very wonderful and patient therapist). I hope, if this is the case, she is able to have her own breakthrough sooner rather than later and can start a journey of healing and acceptance.
