The old breed of men. Very tough guys who cared for kids, cared for what was shown to kids on tv, had respect for the elders, ready to fight for real at a moment's notice, etc. I'm not sure if anyone on any current roster has ever been in a real street fight, let alone how many these two had been through as bouncers.

"A lot of people didn't like Ole because he told what was on his mind." - Mike Hegstrand. Hawk and Animal were the most twin-like in tag team it's as if one can finish the other's sentence. Just to add also, if Hawk was alive now, he would have been on a lot of video games working as a voice actor, and animated films too. He could totally get into character and he had the right mind and humor.

Heroes of mine growing up I started following them in 1986 at 11 yrs old I was so thats most of their careers. This year would had been their 40th anniversary is wrestling. Hawk would be 66 yrs old now Animal 62 almost 63. Saw them in person numerous times,as well as Tv watching. RIP Mike Hegstrand 1957-2003 and Joe Laurinaitis 1960-2020 better known as Hawk and Animal.

Itโs so hard to believe that Joe and Mike are both gone. They were so brutal in the ring, and incredibly contemplative, and insightful in this interview. Two of the best.
