My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

To clear things up, if the compass is reading "North" towards the center of the magnet, it is actually a "South" Pole on the magnet. Remember opposite poles attract. Like or similar poles repel. But the concept works for what you are doing since you alternating magnet polarity.

Thanks again Bre. It's little tid bits that can really help out. The weather is getting better here in Oklahoma. I bet that's true over there too. I'm getting ready for the spring. Mark

Sounds like I lucked out that when I bought my SCAG mower that it had a Kawasaki engine instead of the Kohler? Also, I smile when I see Bree's video intro of her when she was here in my hometown in Ky. sawing that big log with that big Husqvarna chain saw! I'll be right there where she was next week at the Farm machinery show!!!!

Excellent! Not many know those magnets can come off and they must go back in a certain order.

It's a shame the kohler motors do that . They used to be one of the best you could buy. Bullet proof

Good job Bree, I did that to a Polaris snowmobile engine and used the industrial yellow epoxy that I have used on damaged motor cycle cases and it worked good.

I have just such an engine. Your tip will certainly save me some money. Time and frustration, think that will stay the same. Good to know that this happens. Surprised the parts aren't all wrecked. Thanks. Good vids.

I have experienced that issue, just dumb luck I found it, I decided I had nothing to lose, and went into the engine and when finally popped the flywheel, the adhesive had let go. Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching.

I know it's very tempting but don't take a blow nozzle to that stator. Shop air is very likely to blow debris (little metal bits) into the coils and that insulation is super thin. It's very easy to short out the windings. If you have to clean the stator use a vacuum and soft brush. Don't touch the vacuum to the stator and be gentle with the brush.

Would enjoy the solution, did you epoxy the magnets back in place? If this is the case what particular epoxy did you utilize… Cheers.

Not a duct tape fix but close enough. Have to remember this one, as my 21 year old zero turn has a Kohler engine.
