Dig into what happened after the Chicxulub asteroid hit the Earth, and how it caused a mass extinction— including dinosaurs.

--

Sixty-six million years ago, near what’s now the Yucatán Peninsula, a juvenile sauropod feasted on horsetail plants on a riverbank. Earth was a tropical planet. Behemoth and tiny dinosaurs alike soared its skies and roamed its lands while reptiles and tentacled ammonites swept its seas. But, in an instant, everything would change. Sean P. S. Gulick details one of Earth's most devastating periods.

Ted Ed's animations are always top notch. I love that we still have a glimmer of hope. Our kind has almost destroyed the planet yet its humans who find ways to fix things. I wish more people are aware of the seriousness of climate change, not be in denial and take steps to combat it. This planet is our home and if we don't take care of it we'll lose it.

It is amazing foreshadowing to use a small bird as the binding agent of the storyline given that they are the closest relatives of dinosaurs that we can see till this day.

Perhaps the best animation from this channel I've seen so far. I enjoy the cartoonish style but this one is a breath of fresh air.

Sometimes I watch these videos during history class. I’ve learned a lot more on this channel than I ever have in class, anyway.
