My dad just told me they played this at my mum's funeral 25 years ago. I was too young to remember any specifics and I didn't know. So I've come to listen. Lovely song. RIP Shane.

My beautiful mum Maisie Bosquette, Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland, passed away 22nd January 2023 in her 90th Year and this was one of her favourites. We played it as she left the Church on the journey to her final resting place. She loved Shane so much. This one is for you mum. I'm so proud of you and all you achieved. Rest peacefully to the greatest mum I could ever dream to have had. 💔 R.I P 🙏🏼

Listening after hearing Nick Caves heart wrenching rendition at Shane’s funeral. Sung to perfection from his own wounded soul.

My husband and I had pretty opposite musical taste, but we both loved The Pogues. He picked this song for our first dance at our wedding. ❤ Tragically, a little less than three years after getting married, my husband passed away suddenly and unexpectedly when he was just 44. So I played this song at our honoring ceremony for him too. 💔 He always was and always will be the measure of my dreams…..

I am now a 50 yrs old and I remember when I was 18 yrs. My father went for a business trip and he left me his credit card. I felt guilty then, because I went to a CD shop and I bought all Pogues albums. Still have have them. Thanks dad, and thanks to Shane for a long lasting memory and best music in my life.
