very late birthday edit for namjoon (RM from BTS)

namjoon means a lot to me. his beautiful, thoughtful, introspective lyrics make me view the world and myself in new ways. he's so intelligent and caring and humble, the best leader any band could ask for. he's a huge role model to me. I can only hope to be half the person he is, someday.

at first i wasn't sure what song to choose for this edit, but i ended up choosing the song life from his first mixtape, RM. it may not be the most cheerful, but I haven't been feeling cheerful lately, anyways. this song has a somber, beautiful, scary realness to it, in the lyrics, and i think it's some of his best work. it talks about loneliness and questioning the point of existence, and about finding hope despite all we don't know.

i resonate with that message a lot more than a happy, feel good song. I could have made a happy, feel good edit, but namjoon deserves more than a lie from me, so i'm making something real. nobody will see this, but that's okay. this is for me.

to namjoon, i admire you so much. you're a huge idol of mine, the way you express your thoughts in such eloquent beauty an inspiration for me in my own writing, the unique way you view the world a reminder for me to see the world as beautiful despite all its flaws.
