Getting stoned again, dreaming about Stonington Little gem by the sea When the days get long and I can’t seem to carry on I hear it’s salty song call out to me There is music in the boatyard by the dock And there are rose-hips if you wait long enough Walls of pine lining every block A horizon cosigned by God I was lonely when I was young Spent the summers all alone Didn’t know how to, play the part A winter baby, a hermit’s heart On the road again, heading back to Stonington, Little town that has my heart Just packed up the car, closed up the house And headed North Following a distant star Love you more with every mile that we drive Getting closer to the end of the line And if you ask me, I think you’ll find I’m looking forward to the summertime I was lonely, when I was a girl Spent the summers in my own world Didn’t know how, to play the part A winter baby, a hermit’s heart Lavender and cedar-wood One day we’ll leave this town for good Build our castle on the hill And we’ll stay there, swaying in the mountain air Til our hearts are finally still No one’s lonely in the trees When you hold me, I can see Life unfolding, beautifully In our castle, by the sea
