I believe a crucial factor in colonizing Moon and Mars will be the development of robotics. Tesla's Optimus and other ventures such as Boston Dynamics. They will facilitate the construction of shielded housing required for humans and make the future possible.
These will create the economies of scale necessary to produce commercially viable and affordable consumer versions for the general public.

So many comments mentioning nationalities and companies, like it's a competition. ARTEMIS is not a single agency or country project. This not just NASA. ARTEMIS is lead by NASA but it's composed of basically all major aeronautics and space organizations from around the world, each doing their part, small or big. Even Russia is reluctantly doing their part. Chinese on board too. If you are really into science, for Albert Einstein's sake, do a little research before painting mediocre comments as of the academic kind. Thank you.
