OK you can criticize the story line, but I would watch anything with Irene in it. Boyer is not bad either.

He, a wealthy successful man, chats her up in a restaurant where she's a waitress; he fails to tell her he's married; he fails to tell her he has a mentally ill wife; he then leaves on a trip, saying he'll be back: in what circumstances? Difficult to see where the romance lies!!!

It's a bit like the original "Back Street" also starring Irene Dunne, but starts running out of steam fast, limps to the finish line. Ordinarily, I love anything with Dunne in it, but not this time.

The ending was disappointing. It's like the scriptwriters ran out of ideas so Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer had to improvise! Apart from that I enjoyed the movie.
