Paradiso
From The Divine Comedy
By Robert W. Smith
Item: 00-BD9676
Series: Belwin Classic Band
Level: 4

In each of the past two years, Robert W. Smith has released a movement from his symphony The Divine Comedy. Musicians, conductors and audiences can now welcome Paradiso, the fourth and final movement from the symphony. Ethereal percussion is the palate with which solo voices paint musical landscapes of what paradise must be. Hints of themes from the other movements emerge to tie together all of the musical elements of this powerful new work. Completely captivating!

This piece has even more of a strong meaning for the musical world. Robert passed away a few weeks ago, leaving behind this and so many other fantastic pieces. I got to conduct both "The Divine Comedy" and "Don Quixote", and those two works are my biggest projects ever accomplished in my conducting hobby. Rest easy in Paradiso, Mr. Smith. Thank you for everything.

The trumpet line is similar to the opening solo from another song in “The Divine Comedy”, “The Ascension”

Starting for around measure 52, most of the woodwinds have crazy rhythms. What a monstrosity

There is an impossible low Bb in the 2nd flutes part. Bb3, the lowest with an extension is B3.

The performers here sound kinda bad. Tuning, People sticking out of the texture, not being together, and other things. Maybe in spoiled because we played this in district honor band but whatever
