āPush away all the people who know me the bestā really got me. Thatās exactly what I did about exactly a year back when my depression was at its worst. From then on, I was keen on paying attention to the lyrics to this song, and itās such a beautifully heartbreaking piece.
Making the bed is often a chore weāre ingrained with, told to do. Check it off the box. Add it to the routine. Learn it. But that creates a repetitive cycle of something to do, even if we may not want to. Such is the way of self-destruction. And then thereās also the way of ādigging oneās own graveā thatās laced in Oliviaās delivery, like sheās making her bed to rest on when she inevitably crumbles when itās all too much. I also really love the emphasis of āme.ā Itās easy to feel at fault when itās your own happiness youāve seemingly destroyed.
